Trip to Northern Jordan - Part 1

On Friday (يوم الخمعة - yaoum al-jum3aa), July 1, Sahel, Chris and I went to visit a couple of the key historical sites in Northern Jordan - Jerash and Ajloun Castle.

Jerash is an ancient Greek city that is also one of the cities of the "Decapolis", ten major cities of the Syrian province of the Roman Empire.  Castle Ajloun was built by a commander of the Muslim leader Saladin, and was intended to help anchor the defense of the region against Christian crusaders.  It fell into disrepair after the Mongols invaded and was resettled by the Ottomans.

We left Amman around 8:00 am with Rami, our driver, in a white Toyota Corolla.  The cab fare for the day was 35 JD (about $50).
